What we do
The Day Trippers group was set up in 2022 and had a very successful first year. We enjoyed visits to Penderyn Whisky Distillery, Hellens Manor, Blaenafon Ironworks, Newton House in Brecon, Llwyn Celyn and the Skirrid Inn!
In 2023 we visited the Nature in Art Museum and Gallery, the Hereford Cider Museum, Sezincote House and Garden, Bourton House Gardens, Llanfihangel Court, the National Museum of Wales' Collections Centre at Nantgarw, Trericket Mill near Erwood, then we rounded off another successful year with a Christmas lunch at The Horseshoes in Llangattock.
We started 2024 with a coach trip to the Llandysul Winter Gardening Weekend. Then we visited Craig y Nos Castle, the National Waterfront Museum followed by a cruise up the river Tawe, the National Trust Courts Garden in Holt, the American Museum and Gardens at Claverton Manor, Treowen, (a Jacobean mansion house near Monmouth), the SS Great Britain in Bristol, and Boughrood church with its unique restored dead house. A return visit to the Horseshoes for Christmas lunch completed our third year
In 2025 we had a guided tour of Talgarth Mill in March and in April we visited Harvington Hall, an Elizabethan manor house with no less than 7 priest holes. In June we had a coach trip to Ledbury to see the 16th century Painted Room followed by a visit to the house and gardens of Little Malvern Court, a former priory. In July we visited Coughton Court, a National Trust property and in September we visited Presteigne touring the Judge’s Lodging and Rodd Court. Our last visit of the year was to Kentchurch Court in October, followed by our now traditional Christmas lunch at The Horseshoes in December
